A new mural in Chicago’s Sauganash community on the northwest side adds color on the community’s sidewalk wall. Commissioned by the Chicago Public Art Group, the mixed-media mural fills the walls of an railroad underpass at the corner of Peterson Avenue and Kostner Avenue.

Within the art pieces are small photos on some of the mural’s tiles. These are personal photos that came from local residents, who were allowed to submit their favorite pictures in exchange for sponsoring part of the mural. The Chicago Public Art Group estimates the mural’s total cost will be around $70,000 by the time it’s completed in September.
